Government Budget 80% open

Canada

What data is expected?

National government budget at a high level, that is the planned government expenditure for the upcoming year, and not the actual expenditure. Open budget data allows for well-informed publics: showing where money is spent on, how public funds develop over time, and why certain activities are funded. We recommend that you consult our methodology section for more information.

  • Budget per government department
  • Budget per sub-department
  • Descriptions for budget sections

How open is the data?

The data on this site are not explicitly open, however similar datasets are uploaded to the Open Data Portal. It is difficult to assess which licence applies as the producing institution states one licence and once deposited in a portal a separate licence applies. I have chose the more restrictive. Also, note, that once the data are in the open data portal, it is difficult to assess if this is a complete collection, or if incomplete to know what is missing as there is not authority stated and there is no note to explain whether or not this is a complete set.
