The submissions in this data category do not need to include detailed financial data such as balance sheet, etc. Open data from company registers may be used for many ends: e.g. enabling customers and businesses to see with whom they deal, or to see where a company has registered offices. The original submission had to be rejected because not all four characteristics could be found online. More specifically, datasets included Company Names and Unique Identifiers, but not Company Addresses. According to submitter, the annualized data available both in the data portal and in the information system of companies in Colombia correspond to the latest available. This is because companies have a deadline to report until March of the following year. The data for 2016 comes after March 2017 and the available data are updated. The Superintendency of Companies makes available to the public the database with the financial statements of the 26,611 companies in the real sector that reported their balance sheets, income statements and cash flow for 2015 (thousands of pesos). Balance sheets and statements of income are available for free online on the Open data Portal under the creative commons public license. Accessing cash flows requires a user name and password but balance sheets and statements of income do not. The geographic coverage is national and the update frequency is weekly, although data appear to be from 2015. Each dataset is available separately and downloadable at once in .XLS format.
