Weather Forecast 45% open

Denmark

What data is expected?

3-day forecasts of temperature, precipitation and wind. Forecasts have to be provided for several regions in the country. Short-term weather forecasts are relevant for the general public to plan activities, while also being reliable. See our methodology section for more information.

  • Temperature extremes
  • Temperature average
  • Wind speed
  • Wind direction
  • Precipitation Amount
  • Precipitation Probability
  • Forecast for current day and four following days

How open is the data?

Only available to see the information, not possible to download the data.

The data is very easily understandable, because all data (be it icons, or graphs) have a legend explaining the data clearly (so humans can interpret bar charts easily). However, the data itself is only available as PNG file embedded in HTML. So manual transcription is necessary to retrieve the data. To make the data usable through machines would require extensive effort. Data cannot be downloaded. There is no open license on the website, but a copyright notification. The website states that one part of the business model is to cater numerical forecasts to private customers (see: https://www.dmi.dk/en/about/profile/introduction-to-dmi/#c5054). It does not appear that the data is in the public domain. Therefore it is not considered to be openly licensed. Thank you, Oscar Montiel, for contributing to the Global Open Data Index.
