Note: The methodology used in the Global Open Data Index has changed over time; significantly so between 2015 and 2016. For this reason, the results are not directly comparable over time.

What data is expected?

3-day forecasts of temperature, precipitation and wind. Forecasts have to be provided for several regions in the country. Short-term weather forecasts are relevant for the general public to plan activities, while also being reliable. See our methodology section for more information.

  • Temperature extremes
  • Temperature average
  • Wind speed
  • Wind direction
  • Precipitation Amount
  • Precipitation Probability
  • Forecast for current day and four following days

How open is the data?

Data is split across various places. Precipitation amount and probability are available on a different page than the rest of the forecasts ("Rain Radar": https://www.ims.gov.il/IMS/tazpiot/RainRadar.htm) The data can be downloaded at once: XML and RSS are available, and so is a database with filtering options on data.gov.il. 1) Data.gov.il arachive: https://ims.data.gov.il/ 2) XML/RSS: https://www.ims.gov.il/IMS/All_tahazit/RSSFeeds.htm, as well as https://ims.data.gov.il/sites/default/files/isr_cities.xml The weather codes used in the XML file are explained in this document: https://www.ims.gov.il/NR/rdonlyres/640AB3AE-BDF8-4B82-A4BE-F56C4D21C720/0/קודיםלאתר.pdf

The submission is correct. As the terms of use state, the data cannot be altered: https://www.ims.gov.il/IMS/ODOT/TermsOfUse.htm. Therefore the terms of use do not comply with the OpenDefinition, the data is not openly licensed. Thank you for contributing to the Global Open Data Index.
