Locations 50% open

Northern Ireland

What data is expected?

A database of postcodes/zipcodes and the corresponding spatial locations in terms of a latitude and a longitude (or similar coordinates in an openly published coordinate system). The data has to be available for the entire country. See our methodology section for more information.

  • Zipcodes
  • Addresses
  • Coordinates (latitude, longitude)
  • Data available for entire country

How open is the data?

The original review was changed during GODI's public dialogue phase. The original submitter Bob Harper referred only to a free postcode register available at: Central Postcode Directory (November 2015) UK ONS Postcode Directory (November 2016) Bob Harper further elaborates: "However, there are no address references. The data is particularly difficult to find. It exists in different places, with different levels of updated-ness, and with different access arrangements. Percularity with the Northern Ireland data - though it is included alongside the Great Britain postcodes (UK Government Licence), it carries a separate licence Furthermore, the data is both available free of charge, but you can also also be charged £260+VAT by the government department if you are not aware of this"

This review was changed, thanks to a notification by Bob Harper. Thank you, Bob Harper, for contributing to the Global Open Data Index.
