National Laws 45% open

El Salvador

What data is expected?

This data category requires all national laws and statutes to be available online, although it is not a requirement that information on legislative behaviour e.g. voting records is available.

  • Content of the law / status
  • Date of last amendment
  • Amendments to the law (if applicable)

How open is the data?

[Comment by original submitter] You have to find the laws you want to start building your database from scratch! [Comment by reviewer] I changed the original submission to indicate that the "Amendment to the law" were available. I found that it was easy enough to search (the same database) for the amendment listed and to obtain its full text. The record of amendments is also up to date (amendments passed within the last three months are recorded and made available online). I also changed the submission to indicate that the information is not in open domain. The texts of all the laws are only found in PDF format. The html webpage only provides the name of the law, the general topic, the date it was enacted, date of last amendment and a very short summary of the law.

I am accepting the submission because after a review, I was able to verify that indeed all required characteristics for national laws were present in the dataset.
