Note: The methodology used in the Global Open Data Index has changed over time; significantly so between 2015 and 2016. For this reason, the results are not directly comparable over time.

What data is expected?

3-day forecasts of temperature, precipitation and wind. Forecasts have to be provided for several regions in the country. Short-term weather forecasts are relevant for the general public to plan activities, while also being reliable. See our methodology section for more information.

  • Temperature extremes
  • Temperature average
  • Wind speed
  • Wind direction
  • Precipitation Amount
  • Precipitation Probability
  • Forecast for current day and four following days

How open is the data?

A note on the license: "World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Resolution 40 NOAA Policy NCEI data and products that contain international data may have conditions placed on their international commercial use. They can be used within the United States or for noncommercial international activities without restriction. Redistribution of these data by others must provide this same notification. The non-U.S. data cannot be redistributed for commercial purposes. For details, please consult the WMO policy (link is external)."
